Field Assistants needed for on-going study of cooperatively breeding Florida Scrub-Jays at Archbold Biological Station
Gain experience in field ornithology while earning $$$ FIELD ASSISTANTS (3) required - two from early January to end of May 2003, and one from March to May 2003 - to work on a project on the reproductive physiology and nutritional ecology of the cooperatively breeding Florida Scrub-Jay. Research is based at Archbold Biological Station in south-central Florida. Field assistants will spend time censusing the population, establishing and regularly stocking feeders, nest-finding and monitoring, and helping with logistical support of the project. Applicants should be physically fit with full color vision; have their own binoculars; possess (or be working toward) a Bachelor's degree in zoology, biology, or a related field; and have a genuine desire to pursue further education in biology. Experience in handling and knowledge of birds would also be useful. Salary of $1,000/month with housing provided.
